STATEMENT FROM THE N.C. ASSOCIATION OF HEALTH PLANS ON MEDICAID MANAGED CARE FUNDING
Transforming North Carolina’s Medicaid program will improve health outcomes and provide whole-person care while lowering costs for taxpayers and creating jobs in our state. Legislators, providers, insurers, and the Department of Health and Human Services have been working on this transformation for more than a year – but to keep this process moving forward and to not lose any ground, it’s critical that the state fully fund Medicaid transformation as soon as possible.
North Carolina is the last large state to move to managed care for Medicaid. We hope that while the legislature is in town this week, the House and the Senate will pass – and the Governor will sign – legislation that fully funds Medicaid transformation so that the state’s taxpayers, and 1.6 million North Carolinians that depend on Medicaid, can begin experiencing the benefits of a modernized Medicaid program early next year.
