NC Medicaid Choice Spokesperson Taylor Griffin issued the following statement today on the House Medicaid Legislation.
“The General Assembly has taken an important step forward for our state and North Carolina’s Medicaid patients in approving Medicaid reform. This legislation concludes three years of careful deliberations that have yielded a hybrid reform approach unique to North Carolina.
“By including both managed care and provider-led plans in Medicaid reform, beneficiaries will enjoy greater choice and the state will have more options to ensure quality of care and budget predictability. With the passage of this legislation, taxpayers and Medicaid recipients, rather than special interests, are the winners in reform.
“The coalition would like to thank Rep. Donny Lambeth and Sen. Ralph Hise as well as other members of the conference committee for their steadfast work on this legislation and their fair consideration of these complex issues. Their diligence made passage of this historic legislation possible.
“We look forward to working with the state in the months to come and are committed to the successful implementation of this important initiative.”
